The ultimate goal of science is to benefit humankind. The advancement of science, however, may not realize this goal if scientists do not clearly identify the real problems of humanity and assume their role of responsibility in society.

Discussions will be focused on the following three issues: (1) What lessons can we learn from the global financial crisis and the pressing ecological challenges? (2) How can a balance be achieved and maintained between economic advancement and environmental conservation? (3) What are the responsibilities scientists and entrepreneurs should assume in this important undertaking?
