Sinica (AS) is the most preeminent academic institution
in Taiwan and has usually received invitations for
nomination of various prestigious international awards.
The Central Advisory Committee of AS is responsible
for recommending a list of potential candidates upon
receiving these invitations and submits the list to
the President for final decision. Academicians of
AS awarded such prizes in the past recent years include
Professor Wen-Hsiung Li, who was nominated by Academia
Sinica and won the 2003 Balzan Prize of Genetics and
Evolution for his seminal contributions to the field
of evolutionary molecular genetics. Academia Sinica
will continue to recommend its best nominees to various
international prize foundations in the years to come.
