- EMBO (The European Molecular Biology Organization) is an organization of more than 1800 leading researchers that promotes excellence in the life sciences in Europe and beyond. The major goals of EMBO is to promote research in life science and enable international exchange between scientists. It co-funds courses, workshops and conferences, publishes five scientific journals and supports individual scientists.
- The EMBO /Academia Sinica/ MOST joint Training Course was launched in 2021, which main topic is “Grand writing training for young researchers”.
- In this year (2022), the main topic of the course is “Effective oral communication for researchers in the life sciences”. There are 4 sections of this training, one Foundations Session for all participants interested and the other three deepening section for selected researchers in Taiwan.
- The main workshop instructor is the trainer of EMBO Dr. Chapin Rodriguez. Dr. Chapin was awarded his PhD by Cambridge University, and the founder of Creaducate Consulting, which is designed to help the participants explore strategies for describing their research clearly and convincingly to colleagues during poster presentations, research talks, and so on.
- In addition, the workshop moderator is Dr. Ming-Jung Liu (劉明容) of the Agricultural Biotechnology Research Center. She was selected as a EMBO Global Investigator last year. Each year, EMBO selects promising group leaders as Global Investigators who receive financial funding for networking, collaboration, and career-enhancing training activities. We are glad to have her participate in this event.
- We have over 270 people who come from the diverse units (universities, hospital, industry, and so on) signed up for today’s section, the Foundations Session. We hope all the participants can learn something new and useful from this training.
