A delegation from German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) visited Academia Sinica (AS) on February 17th. Led by Director General Mr. Armin Reinartz (Department 2: European and International Cooperation in Education and Research), the delegation comprised representatives from German Aerospace Center, Project Management Agency (DLR-PT), German Council of Economic Experts, Technical University of Munich, Institute of Energy and Climate Research, Forschungszentrum Jülich and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (FhG).
Academia Sinica President James C. Liao received the delegation and hosted a meeting in person. The AS participants include Vice President Mei-Yin Chou, Deputy Executive Secretary Chau-Hwang Lee of the Central Academic Advisory Committee, Director Yue-Gau Chen of the Research Center for Environmental Changes, Director Chia-Seng Chang of the Institute of Physics, Director Kuei-Hsien Chen of the Institute of Atomic and Molecular Sciences, Deputy Director Shu-Chun S. Yang of the Institute of Economics, Research Fellow Ming-Hsi Chiang of the Institute of Chemistry, and Director Tzu-Ching Meng of the Department of International Affairs.
The meeting was centered round energy policy of Germany and Taiwan. A wide range of topics including adoption of hydrogen as a new energy source, hydrogen production, decarbonization technology, semiconductor manufacturing, and the cooperation in science were warmly discussed.
