Due to recent significant changes in global politics and the economy, many top universities worldwide have adjusted their admission and scholarship policies for international students. This has created more uncertainty and challenges for students seeking PhD opportunities abroad.
To support outstanding Taiwanese and international students during this critical time, Academia Sinica is launching the “Fast-Track PhD Admission Pilot Program.” This highly competitive, internationally-recognized PhD program is now available to Taiwanese and international students. It offers an all-English teaching and research environment, featuring world-class faculty and state-of-the-art facilities. The Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) encompasses 13 highly specialized, inter-disciplinary PhD programs at the forefront of science and technology. For more details about the TIGP, please visit:

Applications for this program are open now until Friday, April 25, 2025. Applicants should have applied to PhD programs at overseas universities between late 2024 and early 2025. Their research interests must align with one of the TIGP programs. Admitted students will be able to begin their PhD studies immediately, with no delays to their research careers.
TIGP provides fellowships of NT$40,000 per month to each admitted student for two years. After passing the qualification exam and becoming a PhD candidate in their third year, the fellowship will increase to NT$50,000 per month. Additionally, those who have secured admission to a top overseas PhD program (proof required) may receive the “Rising Star Scholarship,” which provides an extra NT$6,000 per month.
