Philippine DOST Undersecretary Leads Delegation to Academia Sinica to Learn from Research Institution and Talent Development Experience

Undersecretary Maridon O. Sahagun of the Philippine Department of Science and Technology (DOST) led a sixteen-member delegation to Academia Sinica on July 16, 2026, and was received by Dr. Todd Lowary, Director of the Institute of Biological Chemistry. As the Philippine government is advancing legislation to establish the Philippine Science Institute (PSI), the delegation sought to learn from Academia Sinica’s experience in organizational structure, research development, talent cultivation, and international cooperation. The two sides also discussed Academia Sinica’s Taiwan International Internship Program (TIIP) and its graduate, doctoral, and postdoctoral training and exchange mechanisms as references for the future development of PSI and bilateral scientific cooperation.
